India vs New Zealand Detail Report

New Delhi, India, 2021
Rookie Shreyas Iyer remained undefeated at 75, while Ravindra Jadeja scored his 17th test half century when India finished Day 1 at 258/4 against New Zealand in Kanpur on Thursday.

The duo added 102 runs in the final session without losing a wicket as India headed for recovery after a shaky start in the innings.

After opting to hit, India found itself in trouble after Mayank Agarwal was caught fishing by Tom Blundell. Kyle Jamieson drew first blood in the seventh over of the Indian innings.

However, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill got India out of the initial trouble, and both led the team to 82/1 at Lunch. Gill could have been fired as early as Ajaz Patel’s ninth inning, but no appeal was made for a wicket before the stage.

Gill finally reached his half century, but was fired immediately after the play began in the second session. Jamieson attacked the Kiwis again, castling Gill for a second blow to India. The winger did not recover from the blow as he continued a losing streak for both Pujara (26) and Ajinkya Rahane (35).
